Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Static Forms by Barbara Hepworth was auctioned at Christies in London in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500,000.00 – 3,500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,349,000.00 (€ 2,153,465.35). Admittedly, works by Barbara Hepworth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Family of Man: Ancestor II in November this year with an auction result of USD 11,565,000.00 (€ 10,602,310.23).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Static Forms von Barbara Hepworth im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500.000,00 – 3.500.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.349.000,00 (€ 2.153.465,35) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Barbara Hepworth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Family of Man: Ancestor II im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.565.000,00 (€ 10.602.310,23).
