BARBARA HEPWORTH (1903-1975) Two Marble Forms (Mykonos), from: Twelve Lithographs lithograph in black, blue and grey, 1969, on wove paper, watermark initials BH, signed in pencil, numbered 15/60 (there was also an edition of thirty numbered X1 to 30), printed and published by Curwen Studio, London, with their blindstamp Image 740 x 550 mm. Sheet 805 x 570 mm.
Auction result well in line with expectations
In September this year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work Two Marble Forms (Mykonos), from: Twelve Lithographs by Barbara Hepworth. The price achieved of GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,024.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barbara Hepworth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Family of Man: Ancestor II in November this year with an auction result of USD 11,565,000.00 (€ 10,602,310.23).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September diesen Jahres führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Prints and Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Marble Forms (Mykonos), from: Twelve Lithographs von Barbara Hepworth zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 3.024,00 (€ 3.024,00) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Barbara Hepworth erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Family of Man: Ancestor II im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.565.000,00 (€ 10.602.310,23).
