Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Anni Albers achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in December 2020. In the Prints & MultiplesPart I: (Lots 1-250) Part II: The Arthur N. Gilbert Collection of Important Prints by James Gillray (1756-1815)(Lots 251-363) auction, the work Mountainous IV sold for GBP 1,657.50 (€ 1,851.58) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anni Albers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Second Movement I-VI in April this year with an auction result of USD 44,100.00 (€ 39,945.65).
