ANNI ALBERS (1899-1994) Do IV screenprint in white and beige, on Fabriano Cottone paper, 1973, signed, titled and dated in pencil, numbered 47/50 (there were also ten artist's proofs), published by Edition Domberger, Stuttgart, Germany, with their blindstamp, with full margins, in generally good condition Image: 19 x 19 in. (483 x 483 mm.) Sheet: 25 5 ⁄ 8 x 25 5 ⁄ 8 in. (651 x 651 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Do IV by Anni Albers was sold in the The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online auction at Christies in New York in April this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 2,772.00 (€ 2,510.87) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anni Albers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Second Movement I-VI in April this year with an auction result of USD 44,100.00 (€ 39,945.65).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Do IV von Anni Albers wurde im April diesen Jahres in der Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 2.772,00 (€ 2.510,87) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Anni Albers erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Second Movement I-VI im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.100,00 (€ 39.945,65).
