Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Wreathe by Ann Hamilton was auctioned at Phillips in New York in April 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,552.92). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ann Hamilton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abc.Table in May 2004 with an auction result of USD 153,100.00 (€ 125,317.18).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Wreathe von Ann Hamilton im April 2018 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.552,92) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ann Hamilton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Abc.Table im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 153.100,00 (€ 125.317,18).
