In May 2007 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Two Birds in a Snowy Forest by Zhou Zhimian. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 240,000.00 (€ 22,852.90), 60% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zhou Zhimian - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Spring Swallows, which sold at auction in May 2008 for HKD 847,500.00 (€ 69,771.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 60 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2007 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Birds in a Snowy Forest von Zhou Zhimian zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 240.000,00 (€ 22.852,90) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Zhou Zhimian mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Spring Swallows beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für HKD 847.500,00 (€ 69.771,69) versteigert wurde.
