Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
The work Crape Myrtle Flower by Zhou Zhimian was worth HKD 500,000.00 (€ 47,833.20) to a buyer in November 2011. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 80,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zhou Zhimian; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Spring Swallows sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of HKD 847,500.00 (€ 69,771.69).
