Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Landscape in Ancient Styles by Yong Rong was worth HKD 740,000.00 (€ 66,196.44) to a buyer in May 2011. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 200,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Yong Rong; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Scholar’S Rock sold at auction in May 2021 with the realized price of HKD 750,000.00 (€ 79,280.79).
