Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Landscapes After Ancient Masters by Xiao Yuncong was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in October 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 293,750.00 (€ 41,875.63). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xiao Yuncong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Endless Mountains in July last year with an auction result of HKD 8,640,000.00 (€ 1,078,094.49).
