This artwork by William Wood achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2005. In the IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES AND OBJECTS OF VERTU auction, the work A Lady, In White Dress, Dark Bandeau In Her Upswept Powdered Hair sold for GBP 6,600.00 (€ 9,573.24) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Wood; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Young Officer, In Red Coat With Blue Collar, Gold Epaulette And White Cross-Belt With Gold Plate, Black Cravat sold at auction in July 2005 with the realized price of GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,535.59).
