Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Bend In The River by William Mason Brown. The price achieved of USD 37,000.00 (€ 25,573.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Mason Brown - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life with Melon, Grapes, Peaches, Pears and Black Raspberries, which sold at auction in March 2003 for USD 83,650.00 (€ 76,743.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bend In The River von William Mason Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 37.000,00 (€ 25.573,68) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von William Mason Brown mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life with Melon, Grapes, Peaches, Pears and Black Raspberries beobachtet, die im März 2003 für USD 83.650,00 (€ 76.743,12) versteigert wurde.
