This artwork by William Mason Brown achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2011. In the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Fruit sold for USD 30,000.00 (€ 21,152.08) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Mason Brown - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life with Melon, Grapes, Peaches, Pears and Black Raspberries, which sold at auction in March 2003 for USD 83,650.00 (€ 76,743.12).
