In May 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Apples and Lilacs by William Mason Brown. The price achieved of USD 60,000.00 (€ 48,586.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Other works by William Mason Brown have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in March 2003 the work Still Life with Melon, Grapes, Peaches, Pears and Black Raspberries was auctioned for USD 83,650.00 (€ 76,743.12).
