Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young gentleman, facing left in brown coat and waistcoat, knotted white muslin cravat with jabot, red turban headgear; green drapery and landscape background by William Grimaldi was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures including works from the auction at Christies in London in November 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,682.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Grimaldi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Arthur Wellesley, 1St Duke Of Wellington (1769-1852) in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 9,746.44).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.682,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
