Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction The Gordon Collection of Portrait Miniatures, which included the work An unfinished portrait of a young lady, wearing a coral necklace, coral earring, pearl-mounted gold clasp in her upswept and curling dark hair; sky background by William Grimaldi. It changed hands for a price of GBP 750.00 (€ 1,050.19) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Admittedly, works by William Grimaldi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Arthur Wellesley, 1St Duke Of Wellington (1769-1852) in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 9,746.44).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Gordon Collection of Portrait Miniatures durch, in der auch die Arbeit An unfinished portrait of a young lady, wearing a coral necklace, coral earring, pearl-mounted gold clasp in her upswept and curling dark hair; sky background von William Grimaldi zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 750,00 (€ 1.050,19) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Grimaldi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of Arthur Wellesley, 1St Duke Of Wellington (1769-1852) im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 9.746,44).
