This artwork by William Crosbie achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in September 2018. In the Made in Britain auction, the work The Orchestra sold for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,039.11) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Crosbie; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Universal Female sold at auction in May 2014 with the realized price of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 21,508.06).

In der Auktion Made in Britain wurde die Arbeit The Orchestra für GBP 12.500,00 (€ 14.039,11) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von William Crosbie; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Universal Female im Mai 2014 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 21.508,06).
