In November 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work The Fruit Bowl by William Crosbie. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,268.00 (€ 2,662.85), 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Crosbie have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Universal Female in May 2014 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 21,508.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im November 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Scottish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Fruit Bowl von William Crosbie zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.268,00 (€ 2.662,85) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Crosbie auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Universal Female im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 21.508,06).
