Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2000 a collector was able to acquire the work Sheep and Petroglyphs, Canyon del Muerto, Arizona by William Clift for USD 1,410.00 (€ 1,661.56). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs, including Property from the Collection of at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by William Clift have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Portrait, Georgia O'Keeffe' in March 2020 with an auction result of USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,800.25).
