Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work White House Ruins, Canyon de Chelly, Arizona, 1975 by William Clift for USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,088.60). This price was achieved in the auction An American Journey: The Diann G. and Thomas A. Mann Collection of Photographic Masterworks at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Clift - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Portrait, Georgia O'Keeffe', which sold at auction in March 2020 for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,800.25).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober 2018 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit White House Ruins, Canyon de Chelly, Arizona, 1975 von William Clift für USD 3.500,00 (€ 3.088,60) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion An American Journey: The Diann G. and Thomas A. Mann Collection of Photographic Masterworks bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Clift mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'Portrait, Georgia O'Keeffe' beobachtet, die im März 2020 für USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.800,25) versteigert wurde.
