Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Portrait, Georgia O'Keeffe, 1981 by William Clift. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,625.00 (€ 1,042.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Clift have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Portrait, Georgia O'Keeffe' in March 2020 with an auction result of USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,800.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait, Georgia O'Keeffe, 1981 von William Clift zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.625,00 (€ 1.042,40) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Clift auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Portrait, Georgia O'Keeffe' im März 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.800,25).
