Auction result well in line with expectations
The work On the Suffolk Coast, by Willard Leroy Metcalf was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2007. The price achieved of USD 120,000.00 (€ 89,199.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Admittedly, works by Willard Leroy Metcalf have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work October Festival in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 545,000.00 (€ 399,560.12).
