Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Insect on Ricegrass by Wang Chengpei was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 24,000.00 (€ 2,876.05). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Chengpei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscape After Ancient Master in April this year with an auction result of HKD 96,000.00 (€ 98,034.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Insect on Ricegrass von Wang Chengpei im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 24.000,00 (€ 2.876,05) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Chengpei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Landscape After Ancient Master im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 96.000,00 (€ 98.034,78).
