Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Walter Darby Bannard achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. In the Contemporary Art auction, the work Young Phenix #4 sold for USD 17,640.00 (€ 15,021.72) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Walter Darby Bannard; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Alby's Burgundy sold at auction in December 2017 with the realized price of USD 31,250.00 (€ 25,994.01).

Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Walter Darby Bannard erzielte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Young Phenix #4 für USD 17.640,00 (€ 15.021,72) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 6.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Walter Darby Bannard; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Alby's Burgundy im Dezember 2017 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 31.250,00 (€ 25.994,01).
