Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Venus by Tony Berlant was auctioned at Christies in New York in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 252.00 (€ 231.79). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tony Berlant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Letter in June 2000 with an auction result of USD 32,900.00 (€ 34,468.31).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Venus von Tony Berlant im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 252,00 (€ 231,79) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Tony Berlant erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Letter im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.900,00 (€ 34.468,31).
