Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Schism & Skin Game by Tom Phillips was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,052.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tom Phillips - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Berlin Wall with German Grass and Skies II, which sold at auction in December 2018 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 27,852.22).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Schism & Skin Game von Tom Phillips kam im September 2019 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.052,38) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Tom Phillips mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Berlin Wall with German Grass and Skies II beobachtet, die im Dezember 2018 für GBP 25.000,00 (€ 27.852,22) versteigert wurde.
