Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Portrait of A Lady by Thomas Sully. The price achieved of USD 5,760.00 (€ 4,441.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Sully achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Thomas Jefferson in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 209,100.00 (€ 177,715.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2005 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of A Lady von Thomas Sully zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.760,00 (€ 4.441,36) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Sully erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Thomas Jefferson im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 209.100,00 (€ 177.715,45).
