Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Peasant Girl (After Rembrandt's Young Girl Leaning on a Windowsill) by Thomas Sully was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 22,800.00 (€ 18,463.03). Admittedly, works by Thomas Sully have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Thomas Jefferson in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 209,100.00 (€ 177,715.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Peasant Girl (After Rembrandt's Young Girl Leaning on a Windowsill) von Thomas Sully im Mai 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 22.800,00 (€ 18.463,03) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Sully auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Thomas Jefferson im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 209.100,00 (€ 177.715,45).
