This artwork by Thomas Phillips achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2008. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Portrait of a boy with his dog sold for USD 8,125.00 (€ 5,770.19) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Phillips achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, seated half-length, in a black coat, holding a silver snuff-box in his right hand in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 47,000.00 (€ 74,791.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Phillips erzielte im September 2008 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Christie's Interiors wurde die Arbeit Portrait of a boy with his dog für USD 8.125,00 (€ 5.770,19) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Phillips erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, seated half-length, in a black coat, holding a silver snuff-box in his right hand im November 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.000,00 (€ 74.791,81).
