The work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a brown coat and a white cravat by Thomas Phillips was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2012. It achieved a price of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,397.63), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 33%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Phillips achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, seated half-length, in a black coat, holding a silver snuff-box in his right hand in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 47,000.00 (€ 74,791.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
