Sold at the upper estimate price
In July 2019 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna, which included the work Corfe, Dorset, with the castle behind by Thomas Girtin. The auction ended at the price of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,195.87), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Girtin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Durham Cathedral And Castle in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 318,933.24).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Juli 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna durch, in der auch die Arbeit Corfe, Dorset, with the castle behind von Thomas Girtin zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.195,87) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Girtin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Durham Cathedral And Castle im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 265.250,00 (€ 318.933,24).
