Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Kelso Abbey, Roxburghshire, Scotland by Thomas Girtin was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,568.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Girtin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Durham Cathedral And Castle in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 318,933.24).
