In January 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work Bisham Abbey, Berkshire, England by Thomas Girtin. The »bidding war« ended at USD 16,250.00 (€ 14,648.88), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Girtin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Durham Cathedral And Castle in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 318,933.24).

Im Januar 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bisham Abbey, Berkshire, England von Thomas Girtin zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 14.648,88) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Girtin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Durham Cathedral And Castle im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 265.250,00 (€ 318.933,24).
