Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View of Port Neuf, part of the Louvre, Notre Dame & the College of Four Nations, plate VII of 'A Selection of the most Picturesque Views in Paris and its Environs' by Thomas Girtin was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2020. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,577.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Girtin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Durham Cathedral And Castle in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 318,933.24).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.577,12) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden.
