Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Steve McQueen could be acquired at Phillips in New York in June 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session auction, the work Portrait as an Escapologist changed hands for USD 6,930.00 (€ 5,849.09) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Admittedly, works by Steve McQueen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work More in May 2021 with an auction result of GBP 22,680.00 (€ 26,388.70).
