Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Complex Form, Color Superimposed, New York, Watanabe Studio Ltd., 1988-9 by Sol LeWitt was sold in the Prints and Multiples auction at Christies in New York in September 2005. It achieved a price of USD 4,800.00 (€ 3,980.76), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sol LeWitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Complex Form, Color Superimposed, New York, Watanabe Studio Ltd., 1988-9 von Sol LeWitt wurde im September 2005 in der Auktion Prints and Multiples bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 4.800,00 (€ 3.980,76) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19).
