Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Myself and Cupid by William Orpen was sold in the British Art Evening Sale: Modern/Contemporary auction at Sothebys in London in June 2021. The price achieved of GBP 321,300.00 (€ 374,398.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Orpen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Lady Idina Wallace, which sold at auction in November 2013 for GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,158,239.93).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Myself and Cupid von William Orpen wurde im Juni 2021 in der Auktion British Art Evening Sale: Modern/Contemporary bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 321.300,00 (€ 374.398,02) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von William Orpen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of Lady Idina Wallace beobachtet, die im November 2013 für GBP 962.500,00 (€ 1.158.239,93) versteigert wurde.
