Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Swinton Family by William Orpen was sold in the Modern British & Irish Art auction at Sothebys in London in November 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 163,800.00 (€ 192,316.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Orpen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Lady Idina Wallace in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,158,239.93).
