Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Large Hadron Collider No. 2, CERN Labs, Switzerland by Simon Norfolk was auctioned at Phillips in New York in April 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,410.00 (€ 3,665.84). Admittedly, works by Simon Norfolk have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Former Teahouse in a park next to the Afghan Exhibition of Economic and Social Achievements in the Shah Shahid district of Kabul in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,624.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Large Hadron Collider No. 2, CERN Labs, Switzerland von Simon Norfolk im April 2021 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.410,00 (€ 3.665,84) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Simon Norfolk auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Former Teahouse in a park next to the Afghan Exhibition of Economic and Social Achievements in the Shah Shahid district of Kabul im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 16.624,78).
