Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mist Shrouded Trees, Ascension Island by Simon Norfolk was auctioned at Phillips in New York in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,930.00 (€ 5,998.96). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Simon Norfolk - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Former Teahouse in a park next to the Afghan Exhibition of Economic and Social Achievements in the Shah Shahid district of Kabul, which sold at auction in November 2008 for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,624.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Mist Shrouded Trees, Ascension Island von Simon Norfolk im Oktober 2021 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.930,00 (€ 5.998,96) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Simon Norfolk mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Former Teahouse in a park next to the Afghan Exhibition of Economic and Social Achievements in the Shah Shahid district of Kabul beobachtet, die im November 2008 für GBP 13.750,00 (€ 16.624,78) versteigert wurde.
