Auction result well in line with expectations
The work King Amanullah’s Victory Arch built to celebrate the 1919 Independence from the British. Paghman, Kabul Province by Simon Norfolk was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in New York in October 2018. The price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,515.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Simon Norfolk - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Former Teahouse in a park next to the Afghan Exhibition of Economic and Social Achievements in the Shah Shahid district of Kabul, which sold at auction in November 2008 for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,624.78).

Die Arbeit King Amanullah’s Victory Arch built to celebrate the 1919 Independence from the British.
