Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work English Bay Road looking towards Sisters Peak, Ascension Island by Simon Norfolk was auctioned at Phillips in London in May 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,704.49). Admittedly, works by Simon Norfolk have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Former Teahouse in a park next to the Afghan Exhibition of Economic and Social Achievements in the Shah Shahid district of Kabul in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,624.78).
