Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Praying for Rain by Shyamal Dutta Ray was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2008. The price achieved of USD 10,000.00 (€ 6,327.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shyamal Dutta Ray - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in September 2008 for USD 35,000.00 (€ 24,856.19).

Die Arbeit Praying for Rain von Shyamal Dutta Ray kam im März 2008 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 6.327,11) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Shyamal Dutta Ray mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im September 2008 für USD 35.000,00 (€ 24.856,19) versteigert wurde.
