In March 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included this untitled work by Shyamal Dutta Ray. The auction ended at the price of USD 15,000.00 (€ 11,249.44), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 12,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shyamal Dutta Ray - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in September 2008 for USD 35,000.00 (€ 24,856.19).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im März 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Shyamal Dutta Ray zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 11.249,44) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 12.000,00 – 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Shyamal Dutta Ray mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im September 2008 für USD 35.000,00 (€ 24.856,19) versteigert wurde.
