Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (The Puppet) by Shyamal Dutta Ray was sold in the Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba auction at Christies in New York in September last year. The price achieved of USD 1,890.00 (€ 1,931.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shyamal Dutta Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in September 2008 with an auction result of USD 35,000.00 (€ 24,856.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled (The Puppet) von Shyamal Dutta Ray wurde im September letzten Jahres in der Auktion Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.890,00 (€ 1.931,92) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Shyamal Dutta Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im September 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 24.856,19).
