In July last year Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Arab Etiquette by Sheila Hicks. The »bidding war« ended at USD 11,340.00 (€ 11,115.47), 62% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Sheila Hicks have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Soft Stone Fiber Sculpture Orange. in June this year with an auction result of EUR 66,000.00.

Oberer Schätzpreis um 62 % übertroffen

Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Arab Etiquette von Sheila Hicks zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 11.340,00 (€ 11.115,47) und damit 62% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sheila Hicks auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Soft Stone Fiber Sculpture Orange. im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 66.000,00.
