Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Saul Steinberg achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November last year. In the Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part II auction, the work without title sold for USD 37,800.00 (€ 36,617.26) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Saul Steinberg - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Twenty Americans (Twenty Professions), which sold at auction in November last year for USD 113,400.00 (€ 109,851.79).

Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Saul Steinberg erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part II wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für USD 37.800,00 (€ 36.617,26) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Saul Steinberg mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Twenty Americans (Twenty Professions) beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 113.400,00 (€ 109.851,79) versteigert wurde.
