When the work Twenty Americans (Twenty Professions) by Saul Steinberg was auctioned at Christies in New York in November last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 25,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 113,400.00 (€ 109,851.79). This high result makes Twenty Americans (Twenty Professions) the most expensive artwork by Saul Steinberg that we have observed at auctions so far.
