This artwork by Ruth Asawa achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in July 2020. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Untitled (S.402, Hanging Two Interlocked Spheres, Each Containing One Sphere that Interlocks with an Outer Half-Sphere Form) sold for USD 639,000.00 (€ 542,721.25) - well above the upper estimate of USD 350,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ruth Asawa have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (S.387, Hanging Three Separate Layers of Three-Lobed Forms) in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 4,095,000.00 (€ 3,716,308.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 83 % übertroffen

In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Untitled (S.402, Hanging Two Interlocked Spheres, Each Containing One Sphere that Interlocks with an Outer Half-Sphere Form) für USD 639.000,00 (€ 542.721,25) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 350.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ruth Asawa auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (S.387, Hanging Three Separate Layers of Three-Lobed Forms) im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.095.000,00 (€ 3.716.308,19).
