In November 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Latin American Art, which included the work Self-Portrait by Roberto Montenegro. The »bidding war« ended at USD 187,500.00 (€ 157,589.51), 56% above the upper estimate. This high result makes Self-Portrait the most expensive artwork by Roberto Montenegro that we have observed at auctions so far.
