The result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 44,847.07) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Roberto Montenegro - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait, which sold at auction in November 2017 for USD 187,500.00 (€ 157,589.51).

Die Arbeit Cuauhtémoc von Roberto Montenegro kam im Mai 2019 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 44.847,07) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Roberto Montenegro mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Self-Portrait beobachtet, die im November 2017 für USD 187.500,00 (€ 157.589,51) versteigert wurde.
